Thanks for joining me here!
1. Why Substack?
One of my boys recently commented on how much time I spend scrolling through Twitter. It was a “come to Jesus” moment for me. I immediately removed Twitter from my phone and installed Substack instead. (I also cut way back on my Facebook time. That has been a good thing too). Now, I’m reading longer pieces from writers with whom I want to be connected. I’m also feeling far less anxious. It’s fabulous. I think you might like it too.
2. Advent 2022
Since 2018, I’ve been using my website (staceynaleancarlson.com) to share daily reflections during Advent. It has been a life-giving, spiritual practice for me. This year, I felt very conflicted about whether to continue. Do I have the time? Will this be joyful? Or will it be stressful? Do subscribers to my blog really want daily emails from me for the next twenty-nine days?!? While I’m still not sure I can commit to writing daily this year, I want to try. I also want to create a way for the people who really want these daily emails to opt in with intention. So, I’ve moved my Advent Reflections 2022 to Substack. I hope you’ll join me here.
3. What can I expect?
I invite you to enter into this new space with no expectations. That’s what I’m aiming for this time. Maybe you’ll receive a daily message from me during Advent. Maybe you won’t. I’m going to offer myself the grace I trust in for others. I can tell you that I’ll again be using the Advent Photo-a-Day project from Rethink Church (see what I'm talking about here) that offers one word each day and invites participants to share a photo that reflects that word. I’ve added to this a scripture reading for each day/word, along with an accompanying song. The songs are all chosen and ready to go. You can find them here: Advent 2022 Playlist (YouTube), (Spotify), and (Amazon Music). Enjoy!
4. Thank You!
I can’t begin to express how much I appreciate sharing this journey with you. This year hasn’t been the easiest. I’m struggling to figure out who I am now. I do know that writing with you and for you is something that brings me joy and draws me close to God. Thank you for being here. You are loved.
Peace,
